September is Hunger Action Month!
From our client and friends at the SF-Marin Food Bank, we got word that this is the third day of the Hunger Challenge – a call to walk in someone else’s shoes for a couple of days. With the Hunger Challenge the Food Bank hope to raise awareness of the struggle associated with living and surviving off a food stamp budget ($4.50/day) and what you would get at one of the 240 Food Bank pantries all over San Francisco and Marin – produce, staples such as rice and pasta, and proteins like eggs and chicken. It’s not too late to join, learn more here.
The Hunger Challenge is part of the National Hunger Action Month, a month where non-profits working with food assistance up their campaigns to mobilize the public to end hunger. Here in San Francisco and Marin as many as 1 in 4 are living in food insecurity. Yes, the numbers are staggering. If you want to help, click here.
SF-Marin Food Bank is one of our pro-bono clients, and others include, Aids Legal Referral Panel, Lava Mae, San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center and Taste of Potrero . We devote as much as 20% of our time to pro-bono work – we call it Paying it Forward. You can learn more about the organizations we support here.
