What’s going on in our world – design, B2B marketing, inspiration and a lot of Swedishness.

And now, some fun politics ...

This has been a long election, but today we are finally going to the polling places to cast our votes. While you wait for the results you can pass time by reminiscing about the old and not so old days of politcal TV ads.

Politics has been on TV since the 50s. The very first televised campaigns were launched 1952. Leading the charge was Republican candidate Dwight D. Eisenhower (his running mate was Richard Nixon). The campaign spent roughly $1.5 million on ads, twice that of Democratic opponent Adlai Stevenson.

The next one from 1984 might feel familiar. There's something about the messaging that feels a bit 2016.

Look how far we have come from Eisenhower's preppy song, this one is from 2008.

At KQED you’ll find these three and seven more of the most successful campaign ads ever made. Take a look.
