#BeBoldForChange

At Sköna we’re all about change – change for the better, of course! :) So we love this year’s theme for International Women’s Day: Be bold for change.

Being a half Swedish creative agency (now with an office in Stockholm! Yay!), with a majority of female employees AND a female CEO, we totally embrace the Swedish approach to gender equality.

Although the Swedes themselves are not yet entirely satisfied with their gender equality statistics, we can easily establish that they are way ahead of other countries, and continuously heading in the right direction.

The annual Global Gender Gap Report, introduced by the World Economic Forum in 2006, measures equality in the areas of economics, politics, education and health. Since the report’s inception, Sweden has never finished lower than fourth in the Gender Gap rankings. The US is currently ranked #28.

More fun Swedish facts: in Sweden there’s a government agency entirely dedicated to fighting discrimination and protecting equality (The Equality Ombudsman, in Swedish Diskrimineringsombudsmannen, or DO). There’s also a minister for gender equality.
