This year is the 8th anniversary of GivingTuesday – a day that encourages people to do good. At Sköna, non-profit work has long been part of our core. What started as a way to provide our team with an opportunity to spread their creative wings and quickly it evolved into something more important.
We love getting to use our brains to creatively solve business problems, however, helping clients sell more software doesn’t necessarily make you feel like you’re making a positive impact on other worldly issues. Our pro bono work, on the other hand, has a real effect on the everyday lives of people in our community. And for us at Sköna, it gives us a philanthropic mission and allows us to feel as if we’re leaving the world a little better than we found it.
So on this GivingTuesday, we want to give a shout-out to a few of our favorite causes. Go ahead, donate money, or volunteer your time. Or even help share their causes on social media. We know that every little bit helps!
Even before the pandemic, 20% of the San Francisco population was food insecure. This means they did not know where their next meal was going to come from. Today, the San Francisco Marin Food Bank is distributing more than 400,000 more meals per week than before the epidemic. If you can contribute, here’s a link to their donation page!
Founded in 1983, the ALRP helps people in the Bay Area living with HIV/AIDS by providing free and low-cost legal services. Since its inception, the ALRP has handled over 80,000 legal matters ranging from avoiding unlawful evictions to protecting lost jobs and insurance benefits. The ALRP was Sköna’s first pro bono client and we’re proud to have been supporting their cause for the last 17 years. Here’s how you can also help them on their important mission!
The Chronicle Season of Sharing Fund started in 1986 and offers grants to help Bay Area families in crisis. Through a network of 150 community service agencies, the Fund works to identify families in need and provide short-term, critical assistance. Here’s where you can help donate to this great cause!
