San Francisco and Marin are two of the richest areas in the world, yet one in four residents is at risk of hunger. When we first heard this statistic 3 years ago, we were thrust into action, eager to help in any way we could.
Our partnership with the SF-Marin Food Bank began in 2013 with the design of a holiday card. We have since continued to serve as their main strategic partner in several projects; amongst them a rebranding project 2014 that resulted in a new visual language to help position SF-Marin Food Bank for both the future and the now. In 2016 we launched their new website, a much talked about project in the Food Bank world for its design and user experience.
The holiday season is busy for us all, but for a non-profit it is busy-busy-busy. Through October to December, the SF-Marin Food Bank needs to raise 30% of its operating budget - about $8M. Again, in just three months.
To support the fundraising during these crucial months, we created a transit campaign to boost brand awareness. The campaign focused on the theme "Food for All" - three small words that highlight the Food Bank’s big mission to end hunger. The campaign featured faces of our community, reminding us of what is possible if there is food for all. Food is more than a full stomach; it brings hope to neighbors who are struggling and striving to transform their lives for the better. Food for all creates a stronger community.
The SF-Marin Food Bank could not only report a 59% increase in web sites visitors in December 2016 compared to the year before; they also had a significant boost in donations, surpassing the goal of the organization.
